March 6, 2015 -  TORONTO, CANADA - Last week, strange lights were reported over Caledon East and now a second person has come forward to say he saw something, too.

On Friday, we reported a sighting by Don Baird, a Palgrave musician, of two bright lights hovering over Caledon East around 3 a.m. that morning.

Now, Steve Ballard, a 41-year-old Bolton resident, says he and a friend also witnessed two airborne objects while he was at a Tim Horton's on the South Hill at sunset on Thursday.

“We were sitting in my car in the parking lot facing south and it was still a little light out so it was likely around 6:30 or 7 p.m. when we both noticed two lights appear,” said Ballard.

He described one of the lights as being slightly brighter than the other. The smaller of the two began moving towards the larger, stationary light at speed, he said. The lights got close enough that the two appeared to connect then they got significantly brighter before separating again.

“We kind of stopped and said ‘What was that?’” Ballard said of the flare of light.

Then the bigger one shot off east and the other went slowly to the west and disappeared.

“I was lucky that I had a friend with me because often people see these things on their own and it's always questioned,” said Ballard.

Having read that Baird had also seen lights in the sky that night, Ballard quipped that it was "more validation that we can't all be crazy."

This encounter is not the first time Ballard has seen something unusual in the sky. He had a similar experience in July 2013 while hosting a barbecue for friends at his home.

“My friend’s wife noticed it that time,” he said. “We saw four lights in the sky. Three orange lights were together in the sky and then a fourth white light came really quickly from the north. The three orange ones were still sitting still so I took a photo and in the time it took my phone to reload for the next photo, they were gone.”

While both Ballard and his wife are sceptical of the idea that there could be something other than planes or satellites in the sky, they have yet to come up with an explanation as to what these objects may be.

“I live under a flight path, they are always around but the speed of these things wasn’t like any plane or satellite I have ever seen,” he said. “Satellites move at a pretty steady pace and I have never seen a plane sit stationary and then take off like this. I don’t know what they are but there is definitely something unusual in our skies.”

According to the Canadian UFO Survey, there have been around 15,000 sightings of strange objects in the Canadian skies in about the last quarter-century. In 2013, another sighting was reported in Caledon. In that instance, Chinese lanterns were considered a possible earthly explanation. - Caledon Enterprise.
