Eye-witness report:
A little after 10:00 pm I went outside to test my Sony camcorder and observed a triangle shaped object moving in a westward direction at a good rate of speed. The sighting lasted about three minutes.

The object was emitting a strange pulsating hum like a transformer, the object headed off to the west and I shot video for as long as it was visible. The object stayed on a steady course as it flew in a direct path to the west. I have taped unusual phenomena in the past and have submitted previous UFO footage to MUFON.






UFO SIGHTINGS: MUFON Cases - UFO Boomerang Formation Photographed Over Philadelphia On February 26, 2015!



March 4, 2015 -  PENNSYLVANIA, UNITED STATES - A Pennsylvania witness at Philadelphia reported watching and photographing a group of lights moving in a boomerang formation that could not be identified, according to testimony in Case 63646 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was driving northbound along Frankford Avenue in northeast Philadelphia about 7:38 p.m. on February 26, 2015, when the lights were first seen.

“Noticed lights swirling around and had to look twice because there were wires on both sides of the street and directly above for electric buses,” the witness stated. “I thought it was reflections of some sort at first.”

When the witness realized the lights were not reflections, he pulled over for a better look.

“I took some video and photos until they disappeared into the sky where I could not see anymore.”

The witness reports that the video is poor, but two photos show the V-pattern. The witness included two images with the MUFON report, which was filed on February 28, 2015: Image 1 and Image 2.

Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and its only consolidated city-county, the fifth-most-populous city in the United States, population 1,553,165.

Pennsylvania is currently a UFO Alert Level 5 – with 0.71 sightings per million population based on MUFON February 2015 statistics. Pennsylvania received a total of nine UFO reports in February.

The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

ANOTHER EARTH: Clouds Around Alien Kepler-Mission Planets - Clues To Habitability?!

March 4, 2015 -  SPACE - Meteorologists sometimes struggle to accurately predict the weather here on Earth, but now we can find out how cloudy it is on planets outside our solar system, thanks to researchers at MIT. Researchers in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at MIT describe a technique that analyzes data from NASA’s Kepler space observatory to determine the types of clouds on planets that orbit other stars. The team, led by Kerri Cahoy, an assistant professor of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT, has already used the method to determine the properties of clouds on the exoplanet Kepler-7b. The planet is known as a “hot Jupiter,” as temperatures in its atmosphere hover at around 1,700 kelvins.

NASA’s Kepler spacecraft was designed to search for Earth-like planets orbiting other stars. It was pointed at a fixed patch of space, constantly monitoring the brightness of 145,000 stars. An orbiting exoplanet crossing in front of one of these stars causes a temporary dimming of this brightness, allowing researchers to detect its presence.

Researchers have previously shown that by studying the variations in the amount of light coming from these star systems as a planet transits, or crosses in front or behind them, they can detect the presence of clouds in that planet’s atmosphere. That is because particles within the clouds will scatter different wavelengths of light.

To find out if this data could be used to determine the composition of these clouds, the MIT researchers studied the light signal from Kepler-7b. They used models of the temperature and pressure of the planet’s atmosphere to determine how different types of clouds would form within it, says lead author Matthew Webber, a graduate student in Cahoy’s group at MIT.

“We then used those cloud models to determine how light would reflect off the atmosphere of the planet [for each type of cloud], and tried to match these possibilities to the actual observations from the Kepler mission itself,” Webber says. “So we ran a large set of models, to see which models fit best statistically to the observations.”

By working backward in this way, they were able to match the Kepler spacecraft data to a type of cloud made out of vaporized silicates and magnesium. The extremely high temperatures in the Kepler-7b atmosphere mean that some minerals that commonly exist as rocks on Earth’s surface instead exist as vapors high up in the planet’s atmosphere. These mineral vapors form small cloud particles as they cool and condense.

Kepler-7b is a tidally locked planet, meaning it always shows the same face to its star — just as the moon does to Earth. As a result, around half of the planet’s day side — that which constantly faces the star — is covered by these magnesium silicate clouds, the team found.

“We are really doing nothing more complicated than putting a telescope into space and staring at a star with a camera,” Cahoy says. “Then we can use what we know about the universe, in terms of temperatures and pressures, how things mix, how they stratify in an atmosphere, to try to figure out what mix of things would be causing the observations that we’re seeing from these very basic instruments,” she says.

Understanding the properties of the clouds on Kepler-7b, such as their mineral composition and average particle size, tells us a lot about the underlying physical nature of the planet’s atmosphere, says team member Nikole Lewis, a postdoc in EAPS. What’s more, the method could be used to study the properties of clouds on different types of planet, Lewis says: “It’s one of the few methods out there that can help you determine if a planet even has an atmosphere, for example.”

A planet’s cloud coverage and composition also has a significant impact on how much of the energy from its star it will reflect, which in turn affects its climate and ultimately its habitability, Lewis says. “So right now we are looking at these big gas-giant planets because they give us a stronger signal,” she says. “But the same methodology could be applied to smaller planets, to help us determine if a planet is habitable or not.”

The researchers hope to use the method to analyze data from NASA’s follow-up to the Kepler mission, known as K2, which began studying different patches of space last June. They also hope to use it on data from MIT’s planned Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission, says Cahoy.

“TESS is the follow-up to Kepler, led by principal investigator George Ricker, a senior research scientist in the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. It will essentially be taking similar measurements to Kepler, but of different types of stars,” Cahoy says. “Kepler was tasked with staring at one group of stars, but there are a lot of stars, and TESS is going to be sampling the brightest stars across the whole sky,” she says.

This paper is the first to take circulation models including clouds and compare them with the observed distribution of clouds on Kepler-7b, says Heather Knutson, an assistant professor of planetary science at Caltech who was not involved in the research.

“Their models indicate that the clouds on this planet are most likely made from liquid rock,” Knutson says. “This may sound exotic, but this planet is a roasting hot gas-giant planet orbiting very close to its host star, and we should expect that it might look quite different than our own Jupiter.” - Daily Galaxy.
 




UFO SIGHTINGS: Friends Perplexed By Green UFO In England - February 14, 2015!

March 4, 2015 -  BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - A group of friends was fascinated and perplexed by a green UFO over the English city of Birmingham on February 14.

Media outlet Birmingham Mail reports, “One of the group steadied their mobile phone to record the luminous dot from their vantage point near a Lloyds Bank branch on the corner of Rochester Road and Bristol Road South.”
 
Witness Wayne Baylis is the one who recorded video of the green UFO with his phone’s camera. He uploaded two videos to YouTube, and provided the following description: “Me & my friends watched this green object change direction in an unusal [sic] way in the night sky then disappeared in a flash.”

The videos do show the unusual green object hovering in the sky, then moving from side to side, and eventually descending before disappearing “in a flash.”

The appearance and behavior observed in the two videos are consistent with a remote controlled drone, like a quadcopter, which have become quite common. But the low-quality videos were recorded with a phone, and were shot at distance. Without clear details of the object, it’s nearly impossible to conclusively identify the UFO.

This strange green UFO could always be something more mysterious. But, based on the available evidence, a remote-controlled craft is the likely identification.

UFO SIGHTINGS: "It Was A UFO,... It Absolutely Was One,... The Proof Is In The Picture,..." - Local Man Believes He Saw A UFO Over Magnolia, Houston On February 20, 2015!

 - While stuck in traffic Alfonso Servin took a picture with his cell phone and later discovered he also captured something unexplainable.

The Waller resident works at a local grocery store in Magnolia and on Friday, Feb. 20 he left work taking his usual route home. He shared how everyday there is a lot of traffic on FM 1488 and this particular day was no different.


After 30 minutes of just sitting in his car, Servin began taking pictures with his phone. He noticed later in the photo a small white object in the sky and decided to enlarge it.

“I found out it was a UFO, it absolutely was one,” he said.

In the past Servin has seen strange things before, which he believes were unidentified flying objects. Last year in November, he witnessed what he said was a UFO twice in the same week. That Friday was the fifth time, said Servin, and he is adamant about what he saw.

According to a survey conducted by the National Geographic, 36 percent of Americans believe UFOs exist and almost half were undecided. The survey showed only 17 percent felt they did not exist.

To Servin’s surprise, there were no other reports of a UFO in Magnolia that day. People do not like to believe, he said, but he is convinced. Oftentimes people are afraid to share with others what they saw because they might be considered “crazy.” Servin said he is not trying make others believe but feels the people of Magnolia have a right to know what was in their city that day.
